Sending your wireframes to the dev team can feel like watching your kids go off to college.

How will they change? What will they look like when they come back? Will they even remember you?

The design-to-development handoff can be a scary thing. You’ve spent time and energy perfecting each pixel, only to share it with someone else and wait for them to bring it to life.

To add some humor to this sometimes stressful process, here are seven memes capturing that designer-dev collaboration.

Tale as old as time

When you spend weeks creating your design style guide and are ready to present it to the dev team.

Where’d you go? I miss you so.

When the color palette is the only similarity between the wireframe and the final product.

God’s gift to no one

When the dev team tells you to file an issue in Jira for UX changes. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming

Don’t question gifts

When you submit your entire design wishlist to the dev team and try to pass it off as customer requests.

Do or do not, there is no try

When you finally have the chance to show off your coding skills.

Omg they actually exist

When you meet the mythical creature who can design and code.

The goal of these memes is to hopefully elicit a few chuckles and to shine light on the designer-dev relationship. It’s an important partnership that can be difficult to establish, but once you’ve laid the groundwork, will result in better products and better customer experiences.
